Tom and I finished the last chapter (with coding) in the 2d Game Building for Teens book and didn’t find any further problems. Well, except that wherever you see $MeBatty replace it with $BattyPlayer.
After we got done we added a couple more things:
- Tom added a second ghost so it’s a little harder.
- We made it so Batty can fire to the left and to the right.
Later this weekend I’m planning on adding an effect of some kind for when Batty gets hit by the ghost, a limit on the lives Batty has, and a way to keep score of the number of ghosts Batty has killed.
And then it will almost be a “real” game! =:)

Jay,
I sincerely appreciate the Errata work you’ve done. The resources for TGB and getting started are scarce and the 2D Game Building Book is just about the only TGB geared book out there. Are there any other resources and tutorials that really have caught your eye and helped with things? Thanks.

thanks for a great review.
I have been following chapter 6 but I can’t get batty to flip and look the way he is flying. Is there another problem in chapter 6

Thanks for the review and corrections to the scripts.
I found a bunch on junk in the scripts that were enclosed on the tutrial cd for the batty game as well. The game on the cd would not even launch from TGB. In the player.cs I found that all the “” were replaced by î . I replaced those and finally got it to launch. The MePlayer was was the other plauge I ran into. I thought about changing it but recalled your page here from the TGB forums and thought I would check it out before doing so. Glad I did, you saved me a lot of time tinking arround trying to troubleshoot it. Thanks again for your amendments.

Hey guys! Thanks for all those useful erratas.
What’s up, now? During all those months, have you succeeded in creating great stuff with Torque 2D?
